Hello world, welcome to my dark art studio! This is Sarah Rabenhertz (Auriel Phoenix) and I am a German Dark Artist creating biomechanical mythologies. For these, I blend themes of horror, fantasy and sci-fi art to create dark biomechanical art.
I specialize in ink art and digital art because they answer my needs for precision and experimentation. But recently I also enjoy working with acrylic paint on canvas. I am trying to develop my art by transfering my subjects onto different media. Trying out new things and techniques helps me regard my work from a different angle. Thus I can develop my art style further.
As main theme, I focus on sci-fi and cyberpunk art because the nexus of human and machine fascinates me. However, I also enjoy dark fantasy art and horror artwork. My artwork depicts the nexus of horror art, dark sci-fi and mythology and of human and machine. My dark biomechanical art helps me explore the new technological mythologies of our technology infused world. Some works I like to call “sexy dark art” because it includes all of the above and adds an erotic layer. You can find fallen angels, mythological creatures, monsters and gothic themes in my art regularly but also technology, computers, cablework and such. Often I even combine all these subjects in my works to craft my own grimdark dystopian universe of the technocalypse. Check out my portfolio to learn more about my art or go to my current projects.
With regard to style, my work is semi-realist with surreal elements and with a touch of comic art or manga art. I have grown up loving manga and well-drawn comic style art like the one of Michael Turner’s Witchblade. I especially love doing traditional line art drawings with strong linework.
